Will
Smith...........
After
ten years with Face Value...Will Smith our founder Guitarist and all
round thoroughly bloody good chap, decided that it was time for him to
call it a day with Face Value. And we would like to take this
opportunity to thank Will for the laughs and effort along the
way...Take care of yourself and hopefully, one day, we will see
you.......and soon?
...........Mark
Tria
On
a more positive note .....after a period of intensive rehearsal, the
band performed it's first show with Mark during January which was well
received by audience and critics alike. So NOW...things are running
like a well oiled machine !
New
Gigs
We
have made a conscious effort this year, to reduce the amount of small
gigs in favour of the Theater/Live music venue type. There are several
reasons for this, one of which is, that we can't fit all the equipment
we need, into the smaller venues!
(Special thanks to Jules for the new Crew shirts this month!)
October 2009
Dave Heaton
As
you may know the lighting rig has been updated and now includes 20
intelligent DMX light fixtures controlled from a GLP Messenger 2
lighting
desk programmed and operated by Osram Phillips.
We
should of course take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to
Doctor
Dave Heaton who did a fantastic job operating the lights and roadying
as
part of the Face Value team for many years. So many thanks for all your
efforts, Dave, and very best wishes for the future from all the band.

COULDN'T DO
IT
WITHOUT 'EM!
It
is only fair that we dedicate some space in this section to two guys
that you will see a great deal of if you come to our gigs. After
arriving back in the U.K. from down under, Osram Phillips finally gave
in
to the pressure and joined the band. We have always placed a
massive amount of emphasis on the lighting for the band, and frankly,
he is a genius at it. He has taught us a great deal in such a short
time. With his creative flair and technical knowledge he has quickly
become one of the most important elements to our gigs. As well as John,
mention has to go to Kev Lloyd who, over the past months has become a
key crew member to our gigs. Everything from transport to equipment to
decorating and furnishing our studio, he sorts it. We really don't know
how we ever did what we did without him.
HISTORY
Well
who would have believed it!
Spring this year saw the tenth anniversary of the existence of the band
Face Value. From it's humble beginnings in a sweaty dance studio in a
local hall, with 3 members - 600 quid’s worth of equipment
and a handful of idea's about songs.....To what it is today, Four
members, Three Crew and Pushing 50K of equipment. Quite astonishing!
GIGS
It
is impossible to recall the miles that have been travelled each year,
but needless to say this year will be bigger than any before. We will
be travelling to Inverness in the summer, to play for The British Heart
Foundation in conjunction with Lloyds TSB at The Raigmore Motel which
many of our supporters are coming to, which will make the weekend even
more special for the band...and for that we thank you from the bottom
of our hearts. Later on in the year we will be going down to Farnham to
a venue steeped in Genesis history. The Maltings is where Genesis
rehearsed and wrote in their early years and once again the event will
be in aid of a charity. The Naomi Children’s Hospice,
Winchester.
We are also playing some new venues throughout the year, In and around
the North-West, which always excites the band and gives us the chance
to see and meet some new faces. And we are currently filling in dates
for 2010.
EQUIPMENT
We
have spent some time thinking through what would be better for the show
as a whole. So, as we have managed to acquire the services of Osram
Phillips as our new lighting tech. It seemed only right to revamp the
lighting rig. With the purchase of a G.L.P. ME-2 lighting desk which
cost a small fortune, as well as new front LED par cans and more
Abstract scanners along with some new additions to the aluminum
staging, It has now become one of the most impressive sets currently
being used on the live tribute scene around.
Thanks for your
continued support.

Jan 2009
Happy New
Year. May we take this opportunity to say a big thanks to all
those
who; through rain and shine turned out
and spent their hard earned to
watch us last year, it's very much appreciated.
It's
been a long time coming (that's not the title) but the first of our
live CD's is almost ready, and will be available to buy in a few weeks
time.
We kicked off 2009 with 2 nights at the
King Edward VII pub in
Blackpool, a great venue and atmosphere and best of all it was free
entry for both shows.
Thanks for your continued support and we
look forward to seeing you at
a FV gig during 2009.
John, Tony, Wrex, Will.

July 2008
Well.....we
finally got round to it!
TRIBFEST
08
Summer is here (possibly)....... and the
days are getting longer, and
with a little luck some sunshine. Which is what we are hoping
for as Face Value are to do there first open air gig on Sunday August
17th
.in front of an suspected 4 and a half thousand people!!!
The event is known as Tribfest 08 and is a three-day event featuring 22
tribute acts that are known over the U.K. and Europe. There are far too
many things going on over the weekend to list here but full details are
available from Tribfests website at www.tribfest08.co.uk
One rumour is that it will be televised and we know there will be a
full film crew on hand to relay pictures on to a couple of huge screens
either side of the stage. They are the screens that have been used at
Glastonbury Festivals over the past couple of years so you will get all
the atmosphere AND be able to see!!!
CD
1 2 3 ?
The release of our CD has been held up
unfortunately as a costly
equipment failure in the recording engineers set up, has put back the
release date by 6 to 8 weeks. We WILL release something by
August/September.
There is a good chance that we will have enough material for a double
CD (and possibly a TRIPLE!!!) But don't worry, you will be able to buy
them separately according to taste.
AND
WE BOUGHT A VAN!
Which we should get quite some miles out
of ...fingers crossed!
The Transit would only go 40 MPH, which meant we set off even earlier
to get to gigs
......and got home days later!
TWO
NIGHTS TWO NIGHTS TWO NIGHTS...Oh Ohhhhhhhhh
This year we have ventured into doing
double gigs at some venues where
we play our full repertoire over two nights. This is to address the
problem of what to play to please everyone, which has been a long
running problem for us.
So don't be afraid to come to both shows as there will be little
duplication!
SOLD
OUT
On the subject of gigs we are pleased to
say that we are fully booked
up between now and January 2010 which is a first for FV.
That’s a period of EIGHTEEN months
fully booked.
YOUR
DONATIONS
As most of you know we have been
collecting donations through March, in
aid of
of a little girl called Courtney who is in need of an electric wheel
chair. The amount she needed was £3000.00 and we are
delighted to say thanks to you Face Value have donated around
£600.00 toward the appeal. This was achieved through the
generosity of people at our gigs in March, throwing their spare change
into collection points at the front of the stages. So on behalf of
Courtney’s Mother, may we take this opportunity to offer our
heartfelt thanks.
As ever....Thank you for supporting Face
Value. We can't put into words
how grateful we are that you choose to spend your time with us.
Thanks for your continued support.
John, Tony, Wrex, Will.
